Steven Forrest and Jodie Forrest's Website:  Alpha Lyra Consulting and Seven Paw Press

Not all our links are to astrological sites, but they're all well worth visiting!
We've arranged them by category, so scroll down this long page and take a look at all of them...
Astrological and Astrology-Oriented Sites:

Want to find an astrologer near you? Go to http://www.findastrologer.com
Or go to our Directory of Astrologers Trained by Steven Forrest

We distribute software by Alphee Lavoie's AIR Software. http://www.alphee.com
You can read more about their software on this site too, including a synastry report we wrote with them.

Is all you want a free chart? or a free sample report? See Astrodienst at http://www.astro.com  or to www.astrology.com, the astrology section of Ivillage.
One of Jodie's students told her about Astrodienst, and frankly, even though they're our competitors in terms of written personalized computerized astrological reports, we think their site and all its free options is great, and we wanted to tell you about it.
We like Astrology.com just as much! It's extremely educational whether you're a novice or far more experienced. You can get free sample reports, and there are frequent specials on their paid reports.  Reports include:
Personal Astrology Profile, Self Empowerment Guide, Romantic Compatibility Report, Sexual Soul Mates,  Jobs and Money Forecast, Career Path Repor, Men's Guide, Best Friends' Report, Child's Personal Profile, Family Compatibility, Back to the Future, Road to Romance, Karma, Destiny and Healing, Past Life Report, Destiny Report , Future Forecasts, Positive Planning Guide, Women's Forecasts, Women's Wisdom Report, Baby Bundle, Career Success, Wedding Bells,  Personal Profile in Spanish, French and more, Gay Life Report, Lesbian Life Report and more...
At Astrology.com:
1.  When you get to their front page, go to their Chart Shop. It's self-explanatory and very easy to use.
2. But don't miss the other features of the site:  quizzes, history and mythology of astrology, surveys, and much more.

At Astrodienst:
1. First, be patient:  it was a bit slow on a Monday night on our 56K modem. (We know, we know...but  right now it's complicated to get most broadband options where we live.)
2. Look at the upper left hand part of the screen and click on "Free Charts" under "Astrodienst Services."
3. Then, if it's the first time you 've been there, look for the link for birth data entry. You must enter birth data for a chart in order to get access to the free options for mini reports or chart drawing and printout for that chart!
4. Another tip:  when you enter your birthplace, make it "Arlington, VA", not just "Arlington" or "arl" or "va."
Arlington, VA is where Jodie was born. When she entered that information, Astrodienst told her to select a place from the drop down menu of seven possible matches. If you see a similar message from Astrodienst, just click the down arrow and pick the right place--in Jodie's case, it was the Arlington located in Arlington County, VA.
5. Once you've entered and submitted your birth data, Astrodienst calculates the chart, and you can pick among the following Astrodienst freebies:
"Reports / Horoscope Readings,, Personal Daily Horoscope,  Personal Portrait,  Children and Young People,   Love, Flirtation, and Sex Forecast, Partner, Interactive AstroClick Love,  AstroClick Partner,  AstroClick Travel , Chart Drawings - Special Chart drawing Extended Chart Selection Your VIP Astro-Twins"
Most of the categories above are self-explanatory, but the place to go if you just want to print out your chart is "Chart Drawing."
Also, Astrodienst will store the birth data you've entered, so that the next time you visit, you can call that chart up again without having to re-enter its data. Pretty cool, huh? And it will store tons of charts for you!
On Astrodienst, you'll find links to various reports by astrologers Liz Greene and Rob Hand.

But, if you like our own work, and if you'd prefer a written report by Steven and Jodie Forrest, then please come back to our own site and go to  http://www.stevenforrest.com/writtten.html

The Kepler College of Astrological Arts & Sciences in Seattle, WA. This is an exciting and important development in the world of astrology: a degree-granting  univeristy (B.A. and M.A.), and the entire curriculum is built on astrology. http://www.kepler.edu  Email: info@kepler.edu Tel 425-673-4292; fax 425-673-4983. 4630 200th St SW, Suite L-1, Lynnwood, WA 98036. Here's a message from Kepler:
"The deadline for applying to Kepler College's first term is June 23, 2000. Because it took 2 months longer than projected to complete our degree-authorization process, we have extended the deadline from April to June. If someone you know has been waiting for our degree-authorization to be finalized before applying, we are happy to announce that both the BA and MA programs have been approved! Kepler College of Astrological Arts and Sciences is the only college of astrology in the western hemisphere that is authorized to issue Bachelor and Master Degrees in Astrology.
Each term of the Distance Learning Program is twelve weeks in duration, eleven of which are presented via internet and email. Every term, Kepler hosts a 7-day symposium in Seattle, WA where students meet with faculty and fellow students for intense hands-on study. There is minimum dorm space available for the first symposium, so we recommend that applications be submitted as soon as possible.
Do you know someone who needs an application form? One can be downloaded directly from our newly designed website at www.kepler.edu Please take a minute to visit the site for all of the latest news. Or email us and we can send an application.  And please tell everyone you know about this historic event!
If you have any questions about the application process or entrance requirements for either the BA or MA program, please email us at info@kepler.edu or call our administrative office at (425) 673-4292. Thanks so much for your ongoing support and enthusiasm about Kepler College.

Music and Fiction

BassGirls.com

Check out Jodie's interview on the BassGirls.com website above, a site devoted solely to female bass players. If you're a woman who plays bass, you should be there.

We hope this powerful song by our friend Scott Ainslie will encourage you to vote!

Don't miss pianist extraordinaire Robert Griffin's website and his creative solo piano music.  Robert is now the piano player for the Squirrel Nut Zippers! Steven did the liner notes for Robert's CD, "A State of Music," in heavy rotation at our house. Robert did his own arrangements of NC composers & artists such as John Coltrane, Thelonius Monk, Mike Cross, Kay Kayser, Libba Cotton, the Red Clay Ramblers, and the list goes on, including some work of his own... http://www.robertgriffin.com
The Squirrel Nut Zippers' fall/winter tour schedule can be found at either their site or Robert's site, both hotlinked above.
You can hear MP3 clips of Robert's music.  Don't have an MP3 player?  You can download one at http://proforma.real.com/real/player.html.  They sell a downloadable one for $29.90, and they also have a basic one you can download for free from a link on that page.
To hear an MP3 clip of Robert's version of James Taylor's "Carolina on my Mind," click here, and give it anywhere from ten seconds to about 1.5minutes to download.  (We say that because some of our computers, all with different chips, modem speeds, MP3 capabilities and personality quirks, downloaded it more slowly than others.  Some of them started playing the clip 10 seconds into the download, and some didn't.) The clip will play for about 48 seconds.
To hear an MP3 clip of Robert's own "Lullaby for Lindsey," click here, and give it anywhere from 10 seconds to 1.5 minutes to download its 414 K.  It will play for about 35 seconds.
The page with links to all the MP3 clips is http://www.robertgriffin.com/musicclips.html
Like what you hear? Want to know more about Robert's CD? Click here North Carolina: A State of Music !

Steven and Jodie are confirmed Jethro Tull fans. (Guess who's playing the flute above this line?) There are, or so we hear, about 100 Tull sites on the Internet. Here are three of our favorite ones, and they link to other JT sites:

We are so excited about this one! It's the official Jethro Tull website, maintained by Jethro Tull's keyboard player, Andy Giddings, complete with letters from the different band members and the
members' email addresses on-site, photos, bios, tour schedule, concert concession stuff for sale, general band news, etc.
http://www.j-tull.com

The "St Cleve Chronicle"'s Jethro Tull website. The Chronicle is a great and well-moderatedTull e-newsletter. Guess where we first heard about the band's official site mentioned above? The SC Chronicle, of course. http://remus.rutgers.edu/JethroTull

The Annotated Jethro Tull Lyrics Page. Intelligent commentary on the lyrcis: http://www.angelfire.com/wy/voorbij

Pagan, Wiccan and Medieval

If you enjoyed your imaginary visit to the ancient Northern European world that Jodie portrayed in her novels, you may enjoy learning more. Check out these sites where the old ways are alive and well:

One of the very best and best maintained Wiccan sites on the Internet:  www.witchvox.com
Of major importance to the Wiccan community. Links to local organizations, editiorials, community assistance, etc.

A fine Wiccan/Norse site, very informative, well-written, researched and organized, and completely humanistic. Much about the Runes and Norse mythology.  Talmira' Broom Closet: http://members.bellatlantic.net/~talmira/Tyrsdottir

The Kewel Ristar: Eldar Futhark Eclectic Rune Magicks. Another good Pagan site, beautifully designed and well-linked to others: http://members.tripod.com/~runwita

Don't miss the article by Dag Rossman, on this site: "Ancient Nordic Spirituality"

In the SCA? Curious about medieval history for any other reason? For an excellence reference site to medieval history in general, try the Internet Medieval Sourcebook. It has some medieval texts excerpted, and tons of other data.http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/sbook.html

Want some retreat time in a supportive pagan/ Wiccan setting? Then try http://www.dianasgrove.com
