You’ve learned the basics. Your astro-dictionary has some evolutionary astrology definitions for the signs, planets, nodes, houses and the major aspects. Next step: how’s your technique? Do your interpretations flow? Can you make fluent sentences with those astrological "words"? Can you spot how those sentences illustrate themes in birthcharts—-and in your clients’ lives? Move beyond theory to practice! Now that you've learned the rudiments, put them all together in this workshop on the living art and craft of natal chart synthesis. Topics will include:

• how and why to prescribe, not describe
• brief refreshers on the interpretation of planet-sign-house combinations, the Moon’s nodes, and the five major Ptolemaic aspects
• analysis of Sun-Moon-Ascendant combinations
• the elemental/modal balance
• the Ascendant as the gateway to the chart--and to rapport
• chart patterns and complex aspect structures
• interpretation of singleton, unaspected and retrograde planets
• detecting and describing themes—-sometimes harmonious, sometimes contradictory—-within a birthchart
• techniques to keep interpretations creative and fluid
• finding your way around a birthchart: how to organize a reading from start to finish
• practice with participants’ charts
